Potted Ranch Elderberry Plant (6-12"+)(Sambucus canadensis hybrid)
Ranch Elderberry Plant
Sambucus canadensis hybrid
‘Ranch’ is an excellent elderberry with a short stature and it only grows 5-6’ tall so the berries are easily harvested. It’s also one of the most forgiving if you have non-fertile soil and it handles a zone 3 winter easily.
Elderberry is well known as an ingredient in wines and jams but it’s also used to help mitigate colds and flu because of its antiviral properties. It is a great source of vitamin C and has been used for antibacterial properties as well.
Pest- and disease-resistant, especially in the Northeast region. Netting two weeks prior to ripening is necessary to prevent birds from plundering the harvest. Ripens in late August/early September. Best pollinators: Nova or York.
Growing zones: 3-8

Specials
Special: Buy 3 potted plants or trees, get one free! Just put in a note which one you'd like or we will send you the same as your others. We ship in small containers, about 18oz plastic cups. This helps greatly to almost eliminate transplant shock. Many species of trees do not have a good survival rate when transplanted bare-root. This also allows you to plant your trees faster. These trees have been acclimated to the hot sun, but shouldn't be placed immediately into the sun again when received. Just slide out of container or cut container and plant. Make sure to water 2-3 times a week for the first year or so.
