Spiraea x bumalda 'Froebelii'- These are excellent, nicely shaped 1 gallon plants
Easily grown. Tolerates light shade. Can adapt to a wide range of soils. Prefers rich, moist loamy soil. Remove old flower clusters to encourage additional blooming. Flowers on new growth, so prune in late winter to early spring.
Plants can be good self-seeders, and have escaped gardens and naturalized in many areas of the eastern U.S. Plants will also spread in the garden by suckering.
‘Froebelii’ is said to have better heat and drought tolerance than most other S. japonica cultivars, which is impressive considering the others are quite hardy.
