Royal Red butterfly bush is known to be one of the most attractive Butterfly Bushes to pollinators and provides pollen throughout the summer and fall. Royal Red has a slightly looser habit than Pink Delight and usually does not grow quite as tall. It is however a strong grower and will respond well to a hard cut back in late winter. As with other buddleia, the flower display may be enhanced by pruning it to within a foot in late winter/early spring. Royal Red is not a true red but rather is a deep red/purple/wine color. It’s leaves are a deeper green compared to other buddleia such as the silvery foliage of Pink Delight. It is a beautiful shrub in the butterfly garden and is sure to be a greatly loved by your butterflies and other pollinators. Hummingbirds are attracted to this variety due to the flower color!
