Potted Winged Elm Tree (6-12")(Ulmus Alata)
Potted Winged Elm.
Ulmus Alata
It is sometimes called “cork elm” due to its cork-like “wings” growing on the branches. These thin wings can grow up to be a ½ inch thick. The winged branches arch upward and give the tree much visual character. Typically, elms grow to be 40-50 feet and from 1-2 feet in diameter.

Width: 1-2′ (trunk)

Winged elm is a widely used street and shade tree as it loves sun and it is very adaptable to a variety of soil conditions. Its growth rate is slow, but can grow rapidly in moist soil conditions.
If you are looking for a shade tree with a bit of whimsy that also blocks the heat in the summer and gives you an unblocked view in the winter as it sheds its oblong leaves, then this just may be the perfect tree for you!
